John Burrows and Ian Little have known each other since 1978 and have worked together since 1999. Alder King is a well-established company of property consultants based in Bristol. Alder King have represented most of the major UK property developers and investors in all sectors. John Burrows worked closely with Charles Russell-Smith, Partner at AK on the major valuation and feasibilty study for the Sainsbury site and car parking in Salisbury. We provided masterplanning and architectural feasibility options for the team of surveyors, engineers and planners.

Founded in 1920 and headquartered in Kansas City, USA, AMC Entertainment, Inc.is an American cinema chain and subsidiary of Chinese conglomerate Dalian Wanda Group. AMC has the second-largest share of the American market, behind Regal Entertainment Group and ahead of Cinemark Theatres. The chain has 344 U.S. and Canadian locations and 90 other cinemas worldwide including the Wanda theatre locations in mainland China. Through the 90s John Burrows worked closely with the AMC team in Europe, USA and Canada to deliver 12 multiplexes (over 225 screens) in the UK, France, Spain, Portugal, Japan, Canada and the USA.

Anchor Grup is part of the Turkish company, FIBA Group and has been active since 1997 in real estate development in Eastern Europe. Today, the company has EUR 402 million in assets. Anchor Grup has extensive know-how and expertise in retail, residential and office developments. The two biggest developments of the company are Bucuresti Mall, the first shopping mall in Romania and Plaza Romania, the most popular retail and leisure destination of Bucharest. Both these projects plus various interior upgrades were overseen by John Burrows, Richard Cave and Ian Little between the years 1997 and 2007.

Apsys Polska

A global operator in commercial real estate, created in 1996, Apsys Group invests in, designs, builds, markets and operates retailing and leisure spaces. Apsys employs 250 people and manages 700,000 sq m of retail space. Currently the company is developing 500,000 sq m of retail space with 10 shopping centres being developed in France and Poland. Apsys already has 20 shopping centres under management in France and Poland. John Burrows worked closely with the Chairman and Founder Maurice Bansay when Apsys bought the Manafaktura (Poltex) site in Lodz in 2000. Burrows Cave International were employed from 2000 until 2002 to assist Sud Architects in creating the retail strategy and concept for the modern glass enclosed curved shopping centre. Work began on transforming the crumbling mills into a multifaceted cultural extravaganza in 2003 and the centre opened in 2006 was therefore the culmination of more than five years of planning and construction.

Arsenal Holdings plc, the group holding company of Arsenal Football Club, operates as a non-quoted public limited company. John Burrows worked on the lesiure components of the Queensland Road development of The Emirates Stadium alongside CZWG Architects. The client representative was Mr Ken Fry, Director of Arsenal Holdings.

Baneasa Developments

Following our work at Plaza Romania and Bucresti Mall in Bucharest for Mr Ali Ergun Ergen when he was with Anchor Grup, he approached Ian Little to assist with the reconfiguration of the Baneasa mall .Ian provided feasibility, conceptual and design development services for the new entertainment extension at Baneasa Shopping City. He worked alongside The Light Cinemas preparing alternatives and best case scenarios and then worked up the approved scheme to detail for approval by Mr Ergen.

The Company manages its business in two segments: United States markets and international markets. The Company has 465 theatres and 5,240 screens all together. During the 2000s, Cinemark began a campaign of developing new theatres in the UK and John Burrows oversaw the overall design and architectural services for Cinemark in Europe. After the completion of three theatres, Cinemark sold these off and concentrated again on USA and South America

John Burrows worked directly with the Dandy Mall owners and Pradera prior to the Arab Spring as part of a new strategy and expansion for the centre.

The Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) is a federal financial free zone (110 acres) located in Dubai, UAE United Arab Emirates. It has its own legal system and courts distinct from those of the wider UAE, with jurisdiction over corporate, commercial, civil, employment, trusts and securities law matters. In July 2012, DIFC announced the formation of DIFC Properties, part of DIFC Investments to manage its existing real estate portfolio and develop the remaining plots in their Master Plan. DIFC Properties oversees the property management and development of real estate assets in the DIFC. In 2006 / 2007 John Burrows worked with theDevelopment team of DIFC preparing concepts and proposals for the DIFC Boulevard and other smaller projects.

EuroPlex Cinema was founded by leading Swiss film exhibition entrepreneur, Charles Wesoky, together with visionaries Bruno Frydman and Earl Voelker, The chain rapidly expanded through Greece, Switzerland, Italy developing state-of-the-art cinemas in the early 2000s. John Burrows and Ian Little both worked directly with all Charles, Bruno and Earl designing and building some of the best multiplex cinemas in Europe between 2001 and 2007. Major locations included Geneva, Rome, Athens, Lausanne, Milan, Naples, Arezzo, Bern, Lake Como and the Port of Patras and many many more. The operating companies were Europlex Helvetia B.V, Europlex Hellas, and Eurpolex Cinema Italia. The time of our life!

In 2013, Finansbank's net operating profit was 734 million Turkish Liras. Finansbank undertakes large scale investment in property development throughout Eastern Europe. John Burrows was introduced to Finansbank's owners in 1995 by Hakan Aytac and has worked closely with them on projects such as Bucuresti Mall, Plaza Romania and numerous feasibility studies for masterplans anchored by the bank's supermarket chain Gima.

Freeport opened one of the first European outlet centres in 1994 and established itself in this specialist market. A London-based company, Freeport achieved a full listing on the London Stock Exchange in July 1994, and was named UK Property Company of the Year in 1999. In 2007 Freeport was acquired by Carlyle European Real Estate Partneres (CEREP), one of the world's leading private equity investors. With the support of CEREP, Freport has instituted a fullscale turnaround, remodelling the centres, introducing new tenants and reducing costs. However, in 2011 Freeport Retail was established as a management company to provide outlet development, asset management and operations expertise to the Freeport outlets and to third party investors and developers. Freeport Retail now manages Ringsted Outlet, Denmark, and is actively working with development partners in France, Italy, Germany and Slovakia. From 2007 until 2012 John Burrows worked closely with Iestyn Roberts and Chris Milliken creating various new outlet concepts for projects in Serbia, North and South Russia and the emerging markets in China.

Itis was completely renovated in 2011–2014 and is again undergoing a major renovation with the introduction of Burrows Little's Finnkino 9-screen.

LIGHT, The

The Light was founded by John Sullivan and Keith Pullinger, looking to capitalise on the UK cinema market. The digital cinema concept targets all socio-economic categories but with a particular emphasis on the growing cinema audiences within the A, B and C demographics, families and also the mature market. The Light was launched in Bucharest in October 2008, with a 7 screen digital cinema This was quickly followed by an 8 screen cinema in Halle, Germany. Ian Little, first with Burrows Cave International and now with Burrows Little, has led the design programme for The Light and Dcinex, first with the design for Baneasa, then New Brighton, Wisbech and many others in the pipeline. Our first cinema for The Light opened in New Brighton in 2011 and is an 8 screen, all digital cinema. As part of the Neptune Groups development of Marine Point it forms a key part of the regeneration of New Brighton. In Q1 2014 our 8 screen, all digital cinema opens in Wisbech as part of the major Tesco development in the town.

London Clubs International (also known as Caesars Entertainment UK) is one of the most established and innovative operators in the casino industry, having been a market leader for over 40 years. Currently operating under a number of brand names throughout the UK including the iconic Playboy Club in Mayfair, The Casino at the Empire, The Sportsman, The Rendezvous (Brighton and Southend), Manchester235 and Alea Casinos (Nottingham, Leeds and Glasgow). Of the ten sites, John Burrows personally directed and coordinated the architecture and design of six of these major projects between 2004 and 2009, first with Director, Patrick Hayward and then with John Galvani.

Meraas is a Dubai based holding company which activities include developing and operating diverse, high quality urban destinations, as well as investing and creating new technologies and experiences across Dubai. Burrows Little provided feasibility and concept sketches for the cinema zones at their La Mer development at Pearl Jumeirah, Dubai. The scope of the whole project is a construction of four zones - the beach, a leisure and entertainment hub, North Island and South Island.

Metrum, based in Riga, Latvia, provides specialist land surveying and territory planning services. Burrows Little supports Metrum in their annual conference devoted to spatial development planning. The objective of the last conference "Planning Procedure – Driver for or obstacle to development?” provided the latest information on spatial development planning in Latvia to a large group of land surveyors and spatial planning professionals, representatives of local governments and banks, developers and other professionals. John Burrows was the Keynote Speaker and has been a regular speaker in Latvia over the last ten years.

1994 saw Western Development Corporation convert to REIT status and change its name to "The Mills Corporation.' First major success was Ontario Mills near Los Angeles, the company's first mall built with a full oval racetrack design which followed into the rest of the company's built malls. From that point onwards The Mills built and opened at least one or two landmark malls every year until 2005. In 2000, the company expanded into Europe and opened Madrid Xanadú in Spain. Thereafter, John Burrows and Burrows Cave International started providing shopping centre design and masterplanning services to the Mills' European development team working on projects in Spain, Italy and Scotland. The success of Madrid Xanadú prompted The Mills to embark on the $1 billion+ Meadowlands Xanadu complex in 2004 in the USA but the project caused numerous delays and costed the company financially. Three years later, Simon Property Group and Farallon Capital bought Mills. The new platform (for Landmark Mills only) is known now as The Mills: A Simon Company.

The Ritz-Carlton Group is a legendary hotel operator. They operate 85 hotels in 32 countries worldwide. John Burrows and Ian Little worked with their design team on the new Ritz-Carlton in Cairo prior to the Arab Spring dealing with the strict graphic design and signage codes that the Group demands.

Ritz-Carlton, The

Established in 1983 with the purchase of The Ritz-Carlton, Boston and the rights to the name Ritz-Carlton, the management company has grown from one hotel to 86 hotels worldwide with plans for further expansion in Europe, Africa, Asia, the Middle East and the Americas. The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company is an independently operated division of Marriott International operating in 30 countries worldwide with over 35,000 employees. John Burrows led the design team responsible for the feature and wayfinding signage for the illustrious Ritz-Carlton Cairo located in the Palm Hills resort in West Cairo, 6th October. Sadly the last meeting regarding the project took place on 22nd January 2011... 3 days before the Arab Spring Revolution.

In 2007/08 as part of Alder King's team, we worked for the Salisbury District Council. Soon thereafter Salisbury City Council was formed and is now the Parish Council for the City of Salisbury and falls under the jurisdiction of the Wiltshire Council. At the time we provided planning and design services for an urban regeneration project for the Sainsburys site and carpark.

We were responsible for creating SEGA's new brand of games centres located in shopping centres throughout Europe. The designs were required to incorporate the SEGA blue hedgehog mascot covering multiple video games, toys and attractions.

Sigma Capital is a Luxembourg based company formed in 2002 by international investors with a mandate to become the leading developer of hospitality real estate on the Bulgarian Black Sea Coast. The company is already managing over 3 000 hotel rooms on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast, which forms more than 35% of the international branded hotels. John Burrows worked closely with George Veltchev on the Varna City West Project near Varna Airport after working with him on one of his hotel developments on behalf of Hilton Hotel.

SWW came into being in 1989 with the privatisation of the water industry. In the mid-90s John Burrows provided architectural and interior design services, upgrading the main reception, executive suites and boardrooms of the SWW Headquarters building on the outskirts of Exeter.

WERELDHAVE

Wereldhave’s Itis shopping centre is one of Finland’s largest shopping centres, with 94,000 m² of retail. Wereldhave owns the entire freehold of the building and the land. Burrows Little were employed by Wereldhave to investigate opportunities for the space occupied by the weakened anchor store Anttila. In December 2016, Wereldhave Finland signed an agreement with Finnkino to open a 9-screen cinema in Itis, with an anticipated opening at the end of 2018. The cinema, operating on two levels will be the first in East Helsinki and it will be an excellent addition to the leisure offer at Itis. The scheme paves the way for a further improvement of the Food & Beverage offer in terms of quality, quantity and rent levels. The development costs amount to € 20m.
